On Insectisation

It’s possible to conceive Modernity as a project to construct an ant hive out of atomised chimps, but the dismal truth is that is only stage one in a two-stage process.

The second, more insidious stage, is to reformat the chimps into ants, in order to achieve the long-term stability of The Hive.

Humans are higher primates; their closest animal kin are chimps. Chimps are similar to humans, and therefore the social order created by chimps has significant commonalities with the kinds of social structures humans, and pre-humans, generated and inhabited for millennia.

Individual chimps are social animals. The social order they forge in groups is an emergent property / network effect of the collectivised nature of individual chimps. However, the causality is circular / cybernetic; the social order created by groups of chimps forms the social environment individual chimps operate within, therefore it shapes and encodes the chimps, individually and collectively, just as they shape and encode the environment.

This is evolution 101. The environment shapes the organism, just as the organism symbiotically shapes its environment. This results in an ongoing process of mutual ‘unfolding’ over time. An ecosystem is essentially an infinite network of reciprocal feedback loops between organisms and their environments, which include the networked effects of all the other competing / coexistent organisms embedded within it.

Modernity is essentially a function of an intensification of scale, combined with emergent systems / processes designed to ‘collapse’ the spatiotemporal effects of this intensification of scale back on itself.

In Modernity’s quest to expand / globalise the socius a totalised project of dehumanisation and insectisation has been enacted by the Future: “Eat the bugs, live in the pod, take the hormones.”

This is usually framed as an elite / NWO conspiracy; but greater horrific affect can be derived from the realisation that it doesn’t require a direct conspiratorial aspect. Everything follows a fate-line according to the curb / gradient of the preceding conditions – the Future is path-dependant.

Just like the Past, the Future has, in a sense, already ‘happened’. The Future ‘emerges’ out of the Past, while the Past ‘recedes’ from the Future.

The reason the Future doesn’t ‘appear’ to be path-dependant is that human-chimps are furnished with a particular set of perceptual apparatus, which imbue them with a grotesquely exaggerated sense of not only individual self-agency, but collectivised group-agency.

Like ants and chimps, human ‘agency’ is circumscribed by incentive trails / frameworks. These are easy to follow but difficult to change, indeed, any effective action to change them is in fact merely the discovery and exploitation of a fork in the active / dominant incentive trail.

For millennia humans have been on a path of ever greater domestication, leading inexorably towards insectisation, a metamorphosis of body and soul into something Cronenbergian in its utter corruption of The Human. The residual human instinct is to swerve away from this reality, but this isn’t possible because the Future is arrived at on tracks laid down by the Past.

There is no Outside to cybernetic incentive structures other than the selection pressure placed upon them, and by extension the entities which inhabit them, by GNON. Insectoid, post-humanity, is currently set on a path to live in a pod, eat the bugs, and self-sterilise with full bore hormonal terraformation.

The resulting question can only be answered by the onset of the Future: will a fork emerge to divert human capital away from this immiserating predestination or must it abide a radical intervention by GNON to alter its fate?
